About
Wildthingz Dog Mushing is the dog team of husband and wife duo, Richie Beattie and Emily Rosenblatt who winter north of Fairbanks and summer in Cantwell, Alaska.
We strive to maintain our mentality of “quality, not quantity” by keeping our dog yard small, breeding from particular blood lines and devoting all of our time to each individual dog to make them the greatest athlete and companion they can be.
Our dogs are very diverse, as they are tough, amazing race athletes as well as happy, friendly tour dogs.
Richie Beattie
Richie was born in Michigan and moved to Alaska in 2000 to follow his dream of becoming a dog musher. Having been raised in a rural environment, the transition to life in the North was easy. Richie began to acquire sled dogs from other teams to create his first crew of canines. Over the last three decades, he has raised and trained dozens of dogs to create his own bloodline that is now the Wildthingz.
Richie began racing in 2004, ran his first Yukon Quest in 2006 where he was awarded Rookie of the Year. He then ran again in 2007 & 2020. He ran the 2019 Iditarod where he was also Rookie of the Year and completed the 2026 Iditarod, receiving the Red Lantern Award, signaling the last musher to cross the finish line and ensuring the utmost care and safety of his dogs, never giving up to achieve the goal of finishing. He has run several mid-distance races, including the Copper Basin 300, Yukon Quest 300, Two Rivers 200, T-Dog 200 and more.

Emily Rosenblatt
Emily was born and raised in Maine, went to school in Vermont & New York then landed in Alaska in 2015. Having been raised with Siberian huskies as pets that were recreational sled dogs, mushing and rural living was no stranger to Emily.
After meeting Richie and learning the ropes of raising a sled dog team, she now spends time training dogs, guiding tours and managing the kennel. While long-distance racing is not her main priority of dog mushing, she will occasionally run mid-distance events like the Two Rivers 100 or Yukon Quest 80.
Emily focuses more of her mushing energy into runs with retirees and puppies as well as well as multi-day trips with Richie and the dogs.
Emily is also an artist who spends a lot of time doing photography, painting, drawing, graphic design & jewelry making.
